The CHampagne Syndicate
Our family of horse owners and supporters
The camaraderie … the thrill … the adventure … the love of the horse …
These are just a few of the reasons why our members have chosen to join our Champagne Syndicate family.
The joy of watching your horse succeed is truly fulfilling to horse owners of any level - whether it is watching your home bred young horse tackle his first horse trial, or your international star coming across the finish line at a five star. Owners have access to their horse at all times, and are encouraged to visit the stable to observe day to day training and to build a relationship with the team. Owners also enjoy access to some of the biggest events in the world - including the ultimate goal of representing the United States. Many of these top events offer exclusive ringside VIP hospitality packages, and most of our owners can be found enjoying themselves there, socializing with our team and watching their horses compete. For many horses, there is investment opportunity, and potential to earn a net profit from selling a promising horse. Most training, care and competition expenses as well as all Champagne Syndicate dues can be fully tax deductible, a huge benefit to event horse ownership with The Champagne Syndicate and Katie Ruppel Eventing.

Chris & Patty Ruppel
Horses: Hannibal, A Sportsfield Diamond, Cor de Lea
Champions of their daughter and stalwart supports of the sport, Chris and Patty maintain as much involvement as they can. They can be found at many horse trials throughout the country, enjoying the VIP tent offerings and crying at the finish line.
Mark & Michele Ogden
Horses: A Sportsfield Diamond, Cor de Lea
Newcomers to the sport, Mark and Michele have fit right in with their fun loving and social natures. They are a much loved addition to the team and you will undoubtedly hear Michele before you see her - no one has a better cheerleader than me!
John & Judy Wurzler
Horses: A Sportsfield Diamond
Lifelong horsemen and heavily involved in many aspects of the industry, John brings a wealth of equestrian knowledge to our team and often plays “groom” at many horse trials. He is a USPC judge and inspector and I always feel quite a bit of anxiety about the stables and bandages when John is in town!
Bob & Kay Wilmarth
Supporting members
I am so thrilled to have Bob & Kay as part of our Champagne Syndicate team - after selflessly devoting themselves to us riders through their fabulous Richland Park Horse Trials for over 10 years, it’s my turn to give back to them by providing them with a stress-free and fun experience at top events throughout the country. They are true fans of the sport. You have to watch them though, they’ll be out stringing rope for the galloping lane in a heart beat, old habits die hard!
Rhiannon Brodmerkle
Supporting member
Rhiannon is a very important member of our team, not only being an incredible supporter of our top level horses but through her heavy involvement with the young horses as well. Rhiannon runs her Yellow Brick Stables out of her home in Karns City, PA, locating and restarting ex-race horses to ultimately be produced at eventing prospects. Katie’s success and reputation with Thoroughbred horses is what led Rhiannon to The Champagne Syndicate. Rhiannon has a keen eye for an athletic horse and she ticks every box with their management and care before they are sent to Katie to begin eventing. Most of these young horses are available for sale, but hanging on to a very promising one isn’t out of the question.
